Question

"my passport" eternal hard drive problem

Dec 27, 2011 4:13AM PST

i am trying to back up my wifes photo library in order to rebuild iPhoto since it is not working. i have a my passport external hard drive that we used to back up her laptop before. i can see the contents of the ex-hd and can even transfer things from it to her laptop but i can not copy to the passport. there are 288 gb free on it so space is not the problem.

The obvious questions:
- Can you copy to a USB-stick?
- Is this photo library on that same laptop where that drive worked before?
- What file system is on that drive (FAT, NTFS, Apples?)

If copying to a USB-stick works, do that. The average pic being 2 MB and the average USB-stick 8 GB that are 4000 photo's. If she has more do it several times, unloading to another machine in between.

When you drag something to that drive, do you get the "Prohibited" sign? (circle with a line through it)
