General discussion

My new PC and my old CPC ?

Mar 20, 2005 7:55AM PST

Recently I bought a new PC With Win xp SP2 Home edition. My old CPC is an AMSTRAD 6128. Is there any way to connect them or should I put the ASTRAD at the Museum ?

Even the Windows 3.11 AMSTRAD I know of accomodated an ethernet card, but such technology is something I can't assist with except to prove that it worked in its day.

It's too bad you didn't note an OS so I can only suggest the above and DCC as noted at http://www.wown.com/j_helmig/dccmain.htm

Is the forum tip not showing for you either?

Whenever posting questions on these forums, please give us as much information as possible. In this case, the operating system and presence of USB, ethernet card, or any other connection devices on the "old" and "new" computers would sure help.

In the meantime, the "A Few Tips for Computer Newbies" thread has a topic which might help your situation. Here is a direct link:

Hope this helps.

Dear Cnet Moderators,
I would like to thank both of you for both of these valuable links which are FULL of data.
They are very helpful but where can I find compatible software between MS Windows xp and CPM PLUS ? or even MSDOS and BASIC 1.1 ?
The computers are: Amstrad CPC 6128 (Ancient History), Processor Z-80 128kbytes R.A.M and the new one with Pentium 4 2800 MGHz 768 MB R.A.M .
Thanks again for your valuable time.
Charidimos.
