Did you calibrate with a better thing like a Pantone Huey?
My son does digital video editing and it was one of those things you must have to get the colors spot on.

I bought a new Samsung S22D300HY monitor and I'm not happy with it, but I don't know if that's normal for a LCD monitor. I use two screens - the first, a Dell, which has the colours as I'd expect them to be, and the second, my Samsung, has all the colours on my Windows PC as really washed out. The colours are fine on my Mac when it's hooked up to this monitor, but it still hurts my eyes. The colours + eye strain make it basically unusable. It's as if a bright layer of white was just placed over it.
I've tried using different connections (HDMI and VGA), updating/installing drivers, fiddling with monitor's settings, calibrating it in Windows...
any other ideas?
