yes . I used firewire the special wire that I had to send away for....does not look to special but still nada!
See if their machines find it. If you were here, we'd try it on our machines or a Windows machine, Firewire and WINDV.
If not, make the call and make it a warranty issue.

I had this same problem, maddening. The tech note should be updated to include this model. The Canon website says nothing about this issue. Not much documentation on this issue. But unplugging my Firewire cable and other firewire devices, then pluggin it into the rear port worked. After the camera was recognized I was able to plug my external scratch disk into the FW800 port on the rear and capture to that disk.

Try using the firewire port in the back of the mac. Unplug any other firewire devices you have and then-
