My network card cant connect to my wireless network, Help!

by dukemaskot / September 23, 2008 9:01 AM PDT

ill try to give u as much detail as possible:
my built in wireless stopped working so i bought a network card (Linksys Wireless-B Notebook Adapter) off the internet.
i put the pc card in its slot, downloaded the drivers off of the cd, and tried to connect to my wireless network.
this wireless router is in the room across from me and 2 other roommates connect to it with their laptops.
the card picked up the signal (only 2 out of 5 bars) asked me to put in my network key because it is secure (wpa2)
i did so, made sure it was correct, pressed connect and a window popped up saying: " please wait while windows connects to the '____' network. please wait for the network... "
it stays like that for a minute, then disapears without connecting.

all my other roommates connect to it fine.

im using windows xp sp3 on a dell inspiron 700m

i tried to repair the connection, but it says it couldnt finish b/c it couldnt connect to the network

PLEASE help me! i really need this to work!
thank you and please give me any info that might help me fix this problem
thank you and god bless

the internal wireless is disabled
i dont have a wifi switch on my laptop

i typed and retyped the network key in correctly
