My monitor screen is flickering all of a sudden

by clsantoni / February 6, 2010 6:06 AM PST

My monitor screen is flickering all of a sudden when I have never had any problems with it before. When I go to change the screen refresh rate, everything gets blurry. And thoughts?

I tried each one. The one that has the least blur is 75 hrz. It was originally on 60 hrz and had never flickered before.

at 75, the flickering is gone. Now the problem is the blurring.

What monitor is it and what video card ?

Are the video card drivers up to date ?

You are indicating a refresh rate but not the resolution or color depth ... more specific info might help.

I don't know if it is being properly recognized, only that this is a new problem. The monitor is a Dell S2209W. The video card is NVIDIA GE Force 6150 LE. The resolution is 1360 x 768 ( not optimum for this monitor, but I can't stand how tiny everything is on the wide screen at 1920 x 1080).

You should be able to see what monitor and video card are

recognized the the OS under Control Panel, Display, etc.

And when you select the refresh rate ...you should be able to select refresh rate, resolution and color depth.

Might also be worthwhile updating the video drivers just to be sure you're up to date there.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
