My modem connects to only a specific ISP

Sep 17, 2008 2:14PM PDT

Hi!
I have a Connexant 56K modem installed in my PC. I'm using dial-up connection. Problem is that, my modem connects me to the internet only when i use a specific ISP (say ABC) and if i use some other ISP it doesnt connect. And gives messages like "Remote Computer not responding" OR "There was a hardware failure".
It connects sometimes but only once in ten times.
Modem works fine when i'm connected thru ABC ISP...
what can be possible error source?

Thanks in Advance

What will you do to fix this?

"connects sometimes but only once in ten times."

While I know to try a few modems many can't or won't. It's one of many reasons dialup must die. Modems or dialup was never that reliable and the issue I'm alluding to upset many as the owner didn't want to try or pay for the fix.
