my maxtor 250gb hard drive wont turn on or register

i had my hard drive running and was uploading pics onto it when it got really hot and just shut down! does any one know what may have happened?

I think you are asking what to try next. Try putting the HDD into a new case.

If this is a heat issue, open case and clean out the innards. Then place household fan into blow into case and check results when you reboot. If you still get nothing, then you either got a h/w failure or the HD is going south or has already. Your post leaves alot out, so provide details and your new results. Plus, is this a ext. or int. HD? have any warranty? Use it, beware of breaking any seals if ext. HD.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
