My macbook sound stopped working randomly

Nov 29, 2010 2:47AM PST

I was listening to music on my macbook with headphones one night and once I unplugged them my sound stopped working. There is NO red light coming out of the headphone jack and when I go to the sound settings it says there are no output controls. I dont know what to do because everyone says theirs has a red light but mine doesn't. HELP!

Well

Well, there are a couple of options for what happened here, and most of them involve having to tinker with the hardware, so it's probably best to take it somewhere to be looked at. Hopefully it's still under warranty, otherwise there's a very good chance this is a logic board issue and the repairs would probably not be economical.

How old is your Macbook? well since it can't detect any output controls there must be a problem with your sound card
