My Mac Prediction

Dec 2, 2005 7:29AM PST

Here is my prediction for January. Apple will release a Mac Mini for $299. WHY? Apple is trying awfully hard to get into everyones homes, they even tried to give OS X away a while back to the $100 laptop project. I also saw an article somewhere a while back that said that the new Intel PowerBooks could possibly be $200 cheaper. I also think that the new $299 Mini will have Front Row...but in Apple style, charge you for the remote!

remote

They don't charge you extra for it with the iMac... why would they with the Mac Mini??

(this is an example of Veronica taking something waaaay too personal when it comes to Apple)

anyway... I'm hoping for MacIntels. That is all.

Just because

I should have said this, $299 for a plain Mac Mini, $384 for a Mac Mini with front row (and a remote! lol) I've never owned a Mac Sad This price range would definitely help me own one sooner.

I'd prefer Macathlons

I'm still not sure I understand Apple going with Intel over AMD. AMD and Apple always seemed a better philosophical match.

The Mac Mini would be faster and cheaper with AMD inside. And, the concept of it wouldn't feel so... creepy.

On a side note, Apple will do everything in their power to hobble Windows working side by side with OSX on a Macintel. But I can't imagine that products like Virtual PC won't be soooooooooo (sound familiar? Happy) much more efficient on Macintels than on current G5s. They should hardly even have to emulate.

I wish...

I wish they would use AMD instead of Intel. In my desktop & laptop systems I will only put AMD processors in them. I have always felt that an AMD processor is always faster, it always seems faster.
