My laptop won't turn on PLEASE HELP!!!

by Jonnafab / December 12, 2009 2:43 AM PST

I have a gateway model #Mt3422. I think I fell asleep with the Laptop on last night while watching a movie in bed. This morning none of the lights will come on. I have tried changing the outlet and I have tried draining the the battery. I have tried plugging the adapter in without the battery but I can't even get the LED's to come on. Any ideas as to what could be happening. It seems like there is just no power at all.

Sincerely
Confused and somewhat computer illiterate.

From the info I was given on The laptop forum I thought it might have been the power brick. So I went to a radioshack hoping they had a volt meter to check the adapter. This would tell me if it was the adapter or if it was in fact the computer. Of course the radioshack I went to didn't have the volt meter but luckily there happened to be a computer repair shop 2 stores down. when I brought it in for diagnostics the guy plugged it in and it immediately turned on making me look even more ignorant than I already am. He thought it could have been the battery but upon hooking that back up it still held charge. He then said it could be my outlets(my house is about 60 years old) but all my other appliances and devices work fine out of the said outlets. So my computer is functional after a 2 week rest and I am still clueless as to what happened. Thanks anyways.
