Did you try

pressing F11 when you get the HP Compaq screen. This will give you the recovery partition. You're probably going to have to choose advanced and then choose destructive repair. All files and folders will be lost. They're probably already lost with using the disks.

It could be a RAM error

Try re-seating the SODIMMs and also check to see if one or the other is bad. Also try booting Knoppix from CD.

Yep...have seen the same

with every retry the same file shows missing or corrupt. No doubt because it always tries to load in the same memory area...which isn't working.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
