Given it's a laptop running XP, the number one problem I encounter is no maintenance.

My HP laptop keeps crashing. I get a message saying "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" When I cut it off and restart I have to do it several times before I can get it to boot all the way. It gets halfway through boot up and the mouse quits working. Then I have to turn it off again and boot again sometimes twice. After that it usually works ok for several hours then it does it again. Anybody have any advise. All opinions greatly appreciated. Thanks
