I was lucky to find a used Land Rover on a GM lot. It's a 2001 Discovery Series with 95,000 miles on it. The vehicle is loaded with options I didn't even know they put on cars. It is definitely a luxury car even though it's classified as an SUV. The greatest part of all was the sticker price. Less than $12,000. I traded in my '98 Chevy Prism and bought the Land Rover for around $11 thou and wow, what a difference...
It drives like a dream, will go anywhere over any terrain and turns a lot of heads wherever I go. I'm only 5 foot tall, but when I sit in this car, the seat adjustment accomodates me just fine. Everybody looking in thinks I'm average height.
It has dual sunroofs, heated leather seats in the front, stadium-style leather seats in the back (that means the back seat sits up a little higher so whoever is sitting there can see out the front better), 4- wheel drive that kicks in whenever it needs it and even has headlight washers. Wow - who knew?
Gas mileage is around 20 to the gallon which isn't great, but not bad for this type of vehicle.
The reason I got it so cheap (the KBB used car value was $16k when I drove it off the lot last summer) was because it was a foreign car on a GM lot and they needed to ditch it fast. So they made an offer I couldn't refuse.
