My iPod nano (1st gen, 2GB) has stopped playing...

it answers to control; when I press "play" I get the arrow indicating it's playing, but the progress bar does not move, and no music comes out. What can I do to fix this? A new one ain't in the budget.

The old folk at pdaparts.com now do iPod parts. They even have a fixed rate repair service if you don't want to do it yourself.

Research how to reset your iPod and hope.
