The iPhone 3GS was still syncing and backing up on the Win 7 laptop. It would sync but not backup on the Win 7 PC.
I uninstalled everything with an Apple name, including QuickTime and Safari.
Installed all the programs again and had the same problems on the PC. Would not backup.
About an hour later, my iPhone 4 arrived.
I plugged it in and went thru the setup with no problems. I set the sync folders and hit the button; it synced and backed up in about one minute.
Of course I lost all my Notes and settings since there weren?t any previous backups from the 3GS on the PC.
After about two hours of applying new settings, email and notes, all is well.
It?s a great phone!
I have an Windows 7 PC and MB Pro running Win 7 in Vmware Fusion.
All iTunes items are synced between the two computers.
The iOS 4 update was started on the PC and all went well, taking about ten minutes.
My iPhone was backed-up/synced to the PC.
I connected the iPhone to the MB Pro and it backed-up/synced with no problems.
Later, I added some pictures from the PC to the Iphone and noticed that the new pictures were showing up as black/blank frames.
After several trys, I turned the iPhone off and back on and the pictures were there and correct. iTunes did a backup/sync on the PC again.
I tryied the same on the MB Pro with the same results, no pictures without turning the iPhone off then on.
After going back to the PC and syncing, I got the "iTunes could not back up the iPhone because a session could not be started with the iPhone" warning.
It will sync, but not backup on the PC.
Went back to the MB Pro, Iphone syncs and backs up.
Reinstalled iTunes on the PC, but no luck.
Reset the warning messages in iTunes, did a ?Reset All Settings? in iPhone, still no luck.
So, I guess one out of two ?ain?t? bad, but I would like to know what?s happening on the PC.
I?ve read the forums and I know I?m not alone!
