My internet is being incredibly slow

Anytime i try and load up a page it either takes absolutely ages to load, or it doesn't load at all and just times out. It has been like this for the last couple of days now and it is VERY annoying. Anyone know of any general reasons why my internet would suddenly slow down? Any help is appreciated.

Dial-up Is Like That.. Or Do You Have Something Else?

In reply to: My internet is being incredibly slow

Unfortunately, you've given us NO information about your computer or the type of internet connection you're using. DSL? Cable? Wireless or Wired connection? Things like that. In addition, it would help if you told us what you've already done to attempt a fix.

How do you know it's slowing down? Have you run bandwidth speed tests before and after?

Have you run any antispyware scans recently? If not, please do.. Spyware and such can frequently bog down your internet connection software.. If you haven't already, try using the free Malwarebytes tool from the link below:

Malwarebytes Antimalware

Hope this helps and let us know more.

Haha sorry about the lack on info

Computer = Compaq Presario
Internet Connection = Wireless
I haven't done anything to attempt to fix it because I wouldn't know where to start.
The slow download speeds started when I swapped my brothers pc with mine when he went to university.
Now the download speeds of anything are below 20 kb/s. Playing internet games like Guild Wars don't actually lag but it's just downloading anything.
I'll run a spyware test now then.

What Did The Spyware Scan Find?

In reply to: Haha sorry about the lack on info

As to the wireless internet connection, does the connection show as "Excellent" or "Poor" or something in between?

What bandwidth speed did you purchase from your ISP?

If you run a bandwidth test at the link below, what does it show? (Run the Java speed test.)

Do other computers on the same wireless connection show the same problem now?

Tried updating the driver for your wireless adapter on your computer?

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes.

I have been having similar problems and the link sites you provided in this post have been quite helpful.

Thanks
