my icons on my desktop are messed up.

I have Windows ME. All of a sudden 2 days ago, the icons on my desktop messed up. they look they are shadows, they have lost their color, and some are distorted. I don't know how to describe how they look.

1. Press Start, Help and Support. Put the following words in:

SYSTEM RESTORE

Use this to 3 days ago.

2. Failing that, find and install the video card drivers for your video card. Niether Microsoft or I will know what video card you have or who made it.

If Bob's suggestions don't help, then try doing a "search" on the computer for a file named: shelliconcache. (It has no file extension) It's a "hidden" file, so make sure that you are "showing all files" in Windows Explorer. Once the file is found, delete it, then restart the computer. The file will be recreated in a couple of boots and the icons should look correct.
