Question

My HP laptop windows 8.1 will not boot.

It says boot device not found. Please install an operating system on your hard disk. (3F0) I had HP send me recovery DVD's, the first DVD boots and installs with no problem but the rest of them say they are not bootable DVD's. I found some recovery DVD's on ebay but I'm not sure which one's to get. can anyone help me so I'm not wasting my time and money?

I worry that you may have what you need but

The laptop has a failed HDD or other issue. Not all the DVDs in a recovery set is bootable. In fact in all the recovery sets I've used only one is bootable and the rest contain more stuff.

Plug the AC adapter back into the computer

Plug the AC adapter back into the computer, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices. Press the Power button to turn on the computer. If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, then press the Enter key.
