My home theater components with a Yamaha Receiver RX-V663

by GeorgiaDon / December 1, 2008 3:52 AM PST

I currently have a Samsung 56 In. S5687W DLP HDTV, two floor standing front speakers (custom made) with 15 in. woofers, 8 in. midrange, and tweeters, and two rear floor standing Jensen LS6b speakers (15 in. woofers, 2 midrange, and a tweeter in each.)
The current system is in a large cathedral ceiling room.
I want to replace an older Carver stereo receiver and am looking at the Yamaha RX-V663 receiver. Would this be a good match for my speakers. If not what would you suggest?

what are your speaker wattages & there ohms??

I would get the RX-V1900 just to be safe, having that extra power would not hurt on those BIG speakers

the 663 is pretty weak in comparison to most any other similar offering. the 863 does no better unfortunately, even at higher price. in fact, the older 661 has a superior amp section to both of the above.

last year's onkyos have the best bang for buck in power. this years models are mostly downgrades in power, at least for the 605 to 606, or the 805 to 806.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
