My head is about to explode!

Please help me! Way back in the 70's and 80's I considered myself to be an audiophile. However, for some time now I have not kept up with new (new to me) developments and I am now totally lost. Today I started shopping for a blu ray player/system and I do not understand anything about it. Is there a forum for beginners? I just want to ask basic questions but all of the forums that I look at seem to be way over my head. Some of my questions are VERY basic. Example: Will blu ray play on a regular TV? I have many others just as basic but can find no place to ask. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!
