my guest account is gone after windows 10 switch

Mar 24, 2016 10:01AM PDT

Despite my (semi) best efforts, my roommate has informed me that my guest account (with all my favorites) did not make the trip from windows 7 to 10. I haven't gotten on his machine yet but have done a little research this am on my chromebook, and it seems this is a purposeful event. There are complicated directions on how to get into a guest account, but i'm not sure that even if i follow them my old account with it's own desktop and favorites will reappear in 10. I used his computer for almost a year until i could afford to buy my own again, and asking him to go back to 7 to fix this (somehow?) is something i REALLY want to avoid. The posts i have seen on other sites are all to the effect that "everyone has their own computer so it doesn't matter." Obviously that is untrue. Did anyone run into this situation and how did you fix it?

Why not create your own account?

The stock guest account is what it is and a security risk so in the cry for more security I think it's disabled on purpose.

As to it matters, I can't see why you must use the "Guest" account. Get your own?

Yes I have a solution. Create a new user account and

Start keeping your stuff on backups, clouds or a safe place. The Guest account, well it appears anything I write may upset you. I'm not a Redmondite.

I see someone noted how to re-enable the guest account but even doing that is unsure on the results. That account is a throwaway (sorry, I didn't write this OS!) which is why you need your own account. It's like files in that temp folder or the trash. These can vanish.

Windows 10 Guest Account Disabled
Mar 24, 2016 6:16PM PDT

The built-in Guest account is disabled and also blocked by a group policy. This tutorial explains how to enable guest in Windows 10:
http://www.top-password.com/blog/enable-the-hidden-guest-account-in-windows-10/

However, the screen will keep flicking once you log into the built-in Guest account and this seems to be a common issue with Windows 10. So I suggest you create a new guest account to get around such issue.

on the entire drive to find a favorite site and that will find your cookies and bookmarks. You can then copy the folders with them off.
