My first wireless network. Help!

I've never done anything wireless before. I currently have my two PC's connected through a wired router...but I think it's dying so I need a new one. I was considering going wireless...I am about to buy a wireless Router..but...what else do I need besides that?

Is there anything else I need to buy? If not..can I just plug it in and it will automatically pick up my current settings? (I can't set up a network...so i'm basically using what an ex-friend had set-up..if I ever had to re-setup my network...I'd be lost)
