The cpu and motherboard don't match. Did I see the PSU on the list?

ive never built my own before. I apologize if it's basic knowledge. But how do you know if they are going to match or not. I pretty much just picked what seemed like decent parts and put them up. If you know a good build for under $1500 it would be greatly appreciated.

In that case

Use a system building webpage that will make sure all the parts go together. If it's in the cart, it should note any discrepancies, but I've not done newegg for that in awhile. Many sites though do check to be sure it all works together.

Newegg has one such page, but not as complete as I was suggesting.

Many other places to test hardware matchups.

For first time builders you never pick and choose.

The first thing you do with a motherboard is to see what component will go in there like what kind of connectors it have. In this case it is socket 2011 for the cpu and the cpu you have chosen is for socket 1150. Now the decision is to decide which to keep. So take look at the other replied first then decide. For $1500, you should be able to build a pretty nice one.
