My files stuck in limbo

my computer died so i got a new one how do i get my files
out of my documents on the old hard drive? got every thing else from it . by makeing it a secondary drive.
want let me access my documents folder.

You haven't told us what error message you are getting, if any. Backup your documents then try the following (best to sign on as the administrator by Ctr+Al+Del TWICE at login time):
1/ "Right click on D:\Documents and Settings\YOUR A/C NAME\My Documents" -> properties -> sharing - make the folder a "shared" folder - then try and copy, if not try the next solution.
2/ Click start>run - in the box type

cmd
----
A black windows will appear - then type
------------
XCOPY D:\Documents and Settings\YOUR A/C NAME\My Documents C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR A/C NAME\My Documents /s /p /-y
------------
In the above use the correct drive letters and account names
3/ If the above still doesn't work use your XP CD, boot from it , then do the above from the recovery console.

but first, you may have to take ownership of your files. Take a look at MS KB article 308421 HERE
