If we read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319827/ we find that the sort order changes depending on which version of the OS is used.
Next we read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318872/ and discover Explorer sorting was buggy on delivery.
But wait " the settings weren't saved for all folders. What now? " is discussed at http://www.theeldergeek.com/applying_detail_view_to_windows.htm
-> Let me be blunt here. Explorer is not bug free.
I'm having trouble with my windows folders that i keep my mp3s/documents in. I've un-checked all the options on the 'Arrange icons by..' menu (Name/Auto Arrange etc) so i can drag the icons into the order i want them.
Now everything is fine and dandy for a while until all of a sudden and without warning all my files revert back to alphabetical order. When this happens all the options are still un-checked on the 'Arrange icons by' menu so i dont know why my PC keeps reverting the folders back to alphabetical order.
Im using Windows XP and only have about 2 GB of hardrive space left but i dont imagine that would be the problem?
