My external hard disk is not recognized by windows

Dec 6, 2009 5:56PM PST

Dear all, my trascend external hard disk was removed on computer while it was being scaned by Avira antivirus and since that time when I connect it to my computer, it gives me the message that the windows is not recognizing it. Please can anyone help me to heal it? or at least to back up my data? Thank you very much

Tell us all that Disk Management (it's somewhat different for Vista and XP, so I can't give you the details on how to do it) says about this disk.

And let me note that backing up data must be done BEFORE a failure, not afterwards. Now it's called saving the data.
