General discussion

My email was not answered yesterday

Nov 9, 2006 7:19AM PST

I sent an email yesterday to semods4@yahoo.com and have not received a reply. Can you please let me know the answer.
Text of my message:
"All day long today, if I tried to reply to a post or tried to create a new one, I kept on being directed to Lee Koo's message that the forums will only be available on a read only mode between 9AM-5PM PST. Yet I have seen others able to post all day long. What gives?

A possible reason...
Nov 9, 2006 8:16AM PST

Although the New Discussion and Reply 'buttons' were redirected to the announcement you could still type in the URL manually and post. Thus, it was possible to circumvent the block. I also heard that a couple people were not being redirected, possibly because their browsers were pulling up cached content instead.

Regardless, though, almost all of those posts were lost in the move. The reason is that the engineers started the transition by importing the database of posts to the new software/servers, meaning any posts submitted after that importation were saved to the old database, which is now deceased, so to speak. Thus, you didn't really miss anything. (Well, except for being able to post in the new forums before they went live. Happy )

that somewhere in the long thread from Lee Koo.

Whether the post made yesterday got saved [put into the new forums] was simply the luck of the draw with the time that the area was moved to the new servers. Those made after that section was moved to the server simply is gone.

BTW why post when we were told that it should not be done???

We old soldiers follow orders. LOL You too Glenda.
