My Desk Top wakes up on it's own

Jan 21, 2011 12:46PM PST

Within minutes of putting my HP Desktop to sleep it will wake back up without prompting it to do so. This is annoying when I want to leave it for any lenght of time through the day. It's a 2 year old with VISTA OS.

Something, some process or external event is waking it up. Do you have an open internet connection? Or a process that is working in the background, like Indexing?

What happens if you just use the screensaver and not the 'sleep' option?

Mark thanks for replying. I always sign off the internet before hitting the sleep key. I don't know how to check for "indexing." The only process that I'm aware of that might be running constantly is my Webroot Firewall and anti-virus. When i put it to sleep and I'm away for an hour, it will be in the screen saver mode whenI return.
