My computer wont boot up right

I have a ibm netvista 6578 with 512mb ram & running windowsxp, I get a box on my screen that says it cant bring up my profile because security or my profile is corrupt. I used to have ca as my security software but uninstalled it because I thought that was the problem but it wasnt. Can anyone assist me with getting my computer back PLEASE???

thanks bob, your feedback helped me more than you will ever know. I had so much stuff on my computer & I though I lost it all, but thanks to you I was able to save it, thanks again.
