Help with game
Oct 15, 2006 2:54PM PDT

Ok, the first thing I would do, is go to either www.fileplanet.com or www.gamespot.com and see if there is a patch for the game to prevent this. There may even be a patch at this site that you can download, as well. The second thing I would do, is go to the microsoft windows update page, and check for updates for your system(security updates, drivers, etc). I hope that helps. If ya need any other help, let me know.

reinstall?

Have you tried reinstalling it game? The problem may be one of the files becoming corrupted and a reinstall should fix this, you can keep your saved games by copying them into a different folder before you uninstall.

Did you follow my suggestions about updating your system at the windows update page, and searching for a patch for your system?

I've had similar things happen in the past and the problem..
Oct 20, 2006 8:05PM PDT

Well, in the past I've had similar problems when playing games. The problem is almost certainly that you do not have enough RAM on your computer. My main PC has 3 gigs of RAM and it never has these problems. When I had only 1 gig of RAM and would play world of warcraft, it would crash occasionaly. This stopped after upgrading. I would suggest gettine more memory.

how do i get more ram

i dount want to sound stupid but how do i get more ram

you buy it

Find out the bus speed of your motherboard. After you find that, buy RAM for that speed and insert it into the empty RAM slots on the board. Upgrading RAM is the easiest thing you can do inside your computer.

Viruses may be to blame

viruses, traojan horsers, ect. can control your computer without your consent. try these free spyware scanning programs. These work wonders, with a noticable speed increase on older machines.

Video card?
Dec 6, 2006 12:33AM PST

I can't believe nobody has thought of this. I've had problems like this before with certain applications, as well as World of Warcraft. The issue is probably your video card drivers, or the card itself.

I had the same problem with limewire, at first. Decent system, about 2 ghz, 1 gig of ram, Windows XP Pro, Radeon 9800 video card. After about 10 seconds of Limewire being open, the monitor would go black, or sometimes flicker once or twice, then after a few seconds, the computer would reboot. Upgrading the video drivers solved that problem.

I'm currently having the same issue with WoW, but I was told to try using some old drivers - which I'll do when I'm not so lazy. Happy

Just sharing a recent fix of this type issue. Clues about?
Dec 6, 2006 12:47AM PST

In this case the machine would restart, not because of overheating or such (you didn't tell if you tried a cover off test or checked for bad caps) but the final and best clue was in the EVENT VIEWER. It noted a sound driver entry so off we went in search of an updated driver.

Sadly the motherboard maker only offered what we had but a little more sluething found the "other" motherboard (same as this one) that had no onboard LAN did show a newer sound card driver. Since the boards are identical (use same BIOS, core chipset, sound chips, etc.) we installed the new audio driver and viola no more reboots.

Hope this helps but I won't respond until you write about the cover off test and if you looked for BAD CAPS (google.com for pictures.) Also I want to see that EVENT VIEWER entry after the crash. I'll wait till you make a proper reply.

It's probably because your PC is rejecting the over-hyped gameplay that the console-based GTA franchise provides. I noticed that your system has an antiquated videocard as well.

Your solution is to purchase a known awesome game for your system like Company of Heroes or Battlefield 2 and get a new modern videocard.

Good luck, young PC gamer!
