While you are in need of help, take some time to read what information you supplied. No make/model or error messages. No indication if your backup is good to be used so we can start over.

In closing, your plight is typical of spyware and malware infestations and what happens on a Windows Update. This frap is causing many people issues so don't feel you were singled out.

While it's good you supplied a make, the error message is unknown to me since to boot Windows ME, IE is not needed.

As it stands, all I can do is ask one question, ask that you answer my prior question and read an article about startup problems.

1. Answer my prior questions.

2. Put the error message in "quotes" and be exact. Type all the errors anywhere else but what's in the error.

3. Read http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=273738

Best of luck,

Bob

My ME also gave me a message had to reinstall ME; In order to do this; at start up when blue "Dell" came on screen, I immediately hit my delete key which got me into set up area; I used right arrow key to "Boot" changed my boot up to CDrom; inserted my ME operating disc; (not resource) and saved the information; computer shut down and upon turning computer on again; it immediately read my ME operating disc and loaded ME set up; Now my problem is trying to upgrade IE5.5 to 6.0; mine doesn't allow me to do this since I reinstalled ME; good luck

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
