my color depth comes up 16 colors,i can't chx to 256 colors

i have followed the directives to change the depth colors it will not take effectively.i need help. i have gateway mellenium windows/2000 atx flex case

Go to gateway.com, find, then install the video drivrs for the OS in question for your machine.
