My cdrom plays music but...

Compaq Presario 7000's
CDROM LNT403 Compaq

I have to click start then run the e:\ or I have to open up Real Player. Does anyone know how my pc can automatically detect a cd in the cdrom and play automatically without me having to open a program?

TWEAKUI used to have an AUTOPLAY setting for music and data. See if it helps.

1. The first thing to determine is "what is" or "what should be" the FileTypes setting for "AudioCD"!

2. When an Audio CD is inserted into a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, the autoplay feature may not work as expected but the CD drive can be started manually. This behavior can occur if the check mark has been removed for Auto insert notification or when there is corruption in the registered file types for AudioCD, [Q306504].

3. When attempting to play an audio CD after a data CD-ROM has been just used, an error message may be rendered that states there is no CD in the drive. The exact error message displayed is determined by the program, and some programs such as Microsoft Windows Media Player 7 may not detect the audio CD even if ejected and reinserted several times. The error message may be similar to the following and can occurs only if the Auto Insert Notification option is disabled for the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, [Q265314]:

No valid drive/disc found
