my cd drive

by lindylou46 / March 23, 2008 11:27 AM PDT

Sorry I'm not very technical. All of a sudden my drive that I use to download from music cd's and installing things like my printer has suddenly quit running. Don't have any idea why. My printer jammed up the other day and everytime it does this I have to reinstall it on the computer, now I can't so my printer isn't working and I really need to be able to print something important. Does anyone have any idea why this has happened and what to do about it. I am running Windows XP home version. I am hoping I don't have to take the computer in and spend a fortune on it as money is a bit tight right now...I suspect this is what I'll have to do in the end but just wondered if there's something I can do on my own. Thank You. Lynn

CD drives do die. . .

And you can get one for about twenty bucks and replace it yourself. One cable and one power wire is all it takes. It's fool proof, really. And a Phillips screwdriver, depending on the PC, to remove the old drive.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
