General discussion

my Brother's Windows XP

Nov 20, 2003 1:07AM PST

My Brother and I both have Windows XP, he has the home edition and I have the Professional edition. Whenever I see a web site that has info that would interest him, I send the page by email or send the link by email and he doesn't get the info. He says the email is blank. What can be happening here? I have sent him so much info and he says he never gets any of it. I send it to myself at home and I get everything. Please help as this is an ongoing problem.

The article [Q329570] states that when Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows XP SP1 (both of which include Outlook Express 6 SP1) is installed, access to some e-mail attachments in Outlook Express may be removed and occurs if the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus option is enabled, and the e-mail attachment is determined by Outlook Express to be "unsafe". For example, you may experience any of the following symptoms:

a. When you click the paper clip in the Preview pane, the Save Attachments and file_name commands are unavailable.

b. When you open an e-mail message, the Save Attachments command is unavailable on the File menu, the Attach field is missing from the e-mail message, and the following message is displayed in the message alert bar at the top of the e-mail message:

Note: Outlook Express removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your email: file_name1, file_name2

thank you so much for your prompt reply. This makes sense and I am getting in touch with my Brother right away to see if this is the problem. Why, when I click on the Q # that is highlighted, I get to the site, but it looks like nothing is there and if I scroll down the page, the printing is humungous, so I can't read it. Anyway else to get this article. I do have those updates on my computer and I am sure my Brother does not update anything. Please let me know and thanks again.

My Brother does not have the Service Packs for either program downloaded. Should I still give him instructions as per my own OE 6.0 and IE 6.0 with the Service Packs SP1? He doesn't know what I am talking about. He is not very computer literate.
