Question

My Bandwidth keep getting full ! but its not me Wireless OFF

Jun 24, 2015 9:43AM PDT

ok i am having this over a month

this happens every day on random times (4-5 time maybe)

i check my network bandwidth with SNPTrafficGrapher and my own computer usage with DU meter and win 8.1 Task manager

and randomly my ping on any site goes very high (over 1k) and my bandwidth gets fulled (280 KB/s) but when i check with du meter or task manager it shows nothing , and i also turned off my wireless and checked to see no other computer is connected

here is a picture :

in this picture you can see that du meter does not show the usage on STG so it means its not my computer , also i turned off my wireless , SO WHY is this happening ?

Answer
May take a lot of sleuthing.

Windows does that when it checks for updates. A lot of spy/mal/TLAware does it too.

Any chance of port numbers in there? Also, if you had a network share and it is offline, Windows does this about every 10 minutes. Fix? Disconnect from shares.

Sorry but I can't diagnose it for you but you need to get some port numbers and then block them in a firewall to see if the culprit reveals itself.

also how to disconnect from shares ?!

and if this is because of windows checking for updates , why its not showing in DU meter OR task manager ?

But I can't find what OS you are using. It might be Windows XP? OK, how to disconnect is on the web. Like this search:
https://www.google.com/#q=disconnect+network+share+in+windows+xp

For now it will remain a mystery as you learn more.

My advice is to install a firewall and block everything that you can't identify.

But if you are very new, it will take time to understand it all. I can't do this for you.
