Question

My ASUS laptop has a multitude of issues on starting up

Jul 1, 2015 6:18AM PDT

There are numerous issues with my computer on startup that even prevent me from accessing a user account successfully . I will list all of the issues then explain my experience with them.
•After I login successfully , the welcome screen comes up , and either spins forever or loads up some temporary account that doesn't contain all of my files. (It usually never loads!)
*When trying to boot in safe mode, it always gets stuck whdn loading the "classpnp.sys" driver and it forces me to force shutdown . This problem has been persistent but I haven't had to worry about it because sometimes it would bypass it, now it just freezes.
*My computer gets frozen on the Windows colored panel during startup as well, which i can sometimes bypass by pressing enter button on start up.

So all of these issues are teaming up essentially to prevent me from using my laptop! Please give me any advice or suggestions because it seems like I've tried everything. Thanks for reading

What happens if you use Asus eRecovery to go back to factory settings?

The thing is

It got into this condition by some series of actions most of the time. I've seen it get there with registry cleaners, torrents and some malware infections. Try system restore to when it worked but fixing requires a lot of you learning Windows in deep detail. If the usual system restore fails and malware removal fails you're looking at system recovery to factory condition.

Then you've learned to not do what caused it or at least keeping a backup of the entire machine handy. Again, no PC Fixer use or such!

No backups

I do not have any restoration points or backups, will I lose all of my files , etc? I also used trusted software only to clean up my pc, like CCleaner. Do you think these problems might have something to do with me encrypting my hard drive with BitLock ?

I've run into so much loss with drive encryption.

One of the things about encrypting drives is that you must keep backups of not only the drive but the certificate needed to mount and recover the HDD after the OS is reloaded on a NEW drive.

Windows is OK but not OK enough to go without backups. Most learn this after they lose it all. Some don't learn until they lose it all more than once. Almost all complain about the loss or state that folk are not helping them.

OK. Next stop? Drivesavers.com

Too bad

This is terrible news, i have everything on the drive from passwords to Bitcoin! What a waste . Hopefully i can find a solution before having to restore to factory settings. I have had to go through this once, but this time is much more severe

Bitcoin? Sounds like drivesavers may be worth it.

I appreciate you giving me your time to help me . It looks as though I have just bypassed the Welcome screen and am now on a "temporary account" . Is there anything i can do at this stage to save my things? I can access almoat everything except my files , which don't even appear on my desktop.

Ahh the old CORRUPT PROFILE ISSUE?
Jul 1, 2015 1:53PM PDT

That's an oldie. Even Microsoft's "fix" is laughable. Remember you must have the certificate to work this issue. Drive encryption is deep stuff I won't go far on discussions since data is at risk. I only work on clone copies of the drive. I hope you know why we do that. If not, I'm sure you just figured out why.

Re: desktop

It's not "your" desktop, it's the desktop of the temporary account, another desk so to say. If thre temporary account isn't an administrator account, indeed, is has no access to "your" profile (where "your" data is), even if they were unencrypted.

On the clone of the HDD, boot up and UNLOCK!

Thanks everyone

Well it turns out that the clone by default was an administrator, so what i did was open the encryption program, and it turns out that it detected the encrypted c drive, so now I am decrypting it! Hope this solves atleast one of the problems!

Put in a plastic bag and put in refrigerator for half hour. When you take out, immediately try to boot it up. If it boots up further before cutting out, then you have an overheating problem.

Answer
try linux boot disk
Jul 1, 2015 12:47PM PDT

if you have a linux live disk you can boot to it. If it boots and your computer seems to work normally, then it is a software issue, if it does not it is a hardware. This will at least narrow down the problem.

I would suggest linux mint kde.
