My Airport Utilities won't recognize my airport express

<span id="INSERTION_MARKER"><span id="INSERTION_MARKER"><span id="INSERTION_MARKER">I have two MacBook Pros. I
originally used my airport express as my base. Then I got an extreme and
replaced that as a base. I have an external hard drive connected to the
extreme. I have now tried tried to use the express to connect with my
amplifier/receiver in a different room. I plan on playing music from my
external hard drive through ITunes on my amplifier; however, my computer will
not recognize the old express. I tried going into File and then Configure
Other and then type 10.0.1.1 (which I saw in another post) but then I was still
not able to update or get the express recognized.



I have tried a few factory
resets and the airport utilities temporarily identified the express. I ran
through an update and chose the option to use the express to join my network
and use it with other peripherals, but in the end it was unsuccessful because
the software couldn't find the device at the end of the process and now I can't
find it again.



Of note the express was not
connected to my receiver/ amp at the time.
