Paragon Partition Manager, MemTest86+, Firefox and some sort of bootable recovery media (Hiren's Boot CD), etc., would be included in my list of MUST HAVE free PC apps.

Program like True Image (Acronis), PowerDesk Pro (Avanquest) , PrintScreen Deluxe (ver 4.0b) would also be on my list of MUST HAVE paid apps.

for the CDBurnerXP tip. I loaded ImgBurn from Softpedia and they included OutFoxTV even if I opted out. That Pi$$ed me off and couldn't get rid of it but I thought ok, live and learn.

I had just created a new set of Win 8 system image disc's so I just reloaded the new image.

I than went to the ImgBurn site and downloaded it from there and I'll be damned if it was the same thing, even if I opted out of OutFoxTV ,it was installed .

Reloaded again with the new image disc's lol

I downloaded CDBurnerXP and they offered RealPlayer but I opted out and Realplayer didn't get loaded. I just made sure to not load all of the different languages.

CDBurnerXP works well

I used Mirror 7 which is direct by ImgBurn and AVG and Outfox is hidden until you choose Advanced and opt out.

More d-ware but so far I only got ImgBurn with the Advanced install.

I'll watch for more to see if it shows up later.

about:config didn't have any outfox or new entries.

Another check with HiJackThis and nothing new there.

Parting note, I opted out of update checks as it could have me forget to check it out.

I keep things simple

I keep things simple.

Firefox, Thunderbird, Calibre, MPC-HC (or VLC depending on my mood), XBMC, Trillian

Those are about the only programs I use on any kind of regular basis.

I don't have a lot of apps

other than what comes supplied with the OS , just a couple,

I like ImgBurn for burning disc's and I like Audacious for a simple clean lightweight music player. That's all it does is play cd's or create a playlist from your music library.
