Musicmatch locks up

May 29, 2005 11:01PM PDT

Musicmatch stops playing downloaded tracks after 28 seconds. When it stops playing, Musicmatch grinds to a halt. This does not happen to other tracks in my music library loaded from CDs. I am running Windows XP. Can anyone help??

Poison tracks?

An old ploy is to send out tracks into the P2P world that are corrupt to harrass downloaders.

Try this. Pull said tracks from the CD.

Unfortunately, it happens with tracks purchased and downloaded from musicmatch and not with my own cds that I play through musicmatch

still nothing. I reinstalled and nothing changed. It just locks up (when playing purchased tracks) after 28 seconds. When playing my own cds through musicmatch's library, it works fine. Could the licenses for the tracks be screwed up?

Me too
Jun 11, 2005 4:13AM PDT

I've been using MM for years. Recently, music I have purchased from MM just stops playing. I've contacted technical support about this with no response. It really ticks me off that I can't play music I pay for. Anyone have an alternative to MM? I do like the super tagging feature and would hate to loose that.

now what

I am glad that it's not just me. Now, what can we do about it. Like you, I have made a sizable investment in purchases from MM. I want to be able to play them. Customer support has been incredibly slow in responding. It took just about two weeks for them to respond to my initial inquiry. The follow-up is at one week and counting.

Same long reply times here.

I noted a "try this" weeks ago and not a peep. Not that I mind.

MusicMatch Lock Up - Me too!!!
Jul 29, 2005 5:13AM PDT

This started happening to me on July 14, 2005. Before then, it worked great. Then, I download 3 new songs and wham!!

I too have tried submitting requests for technical assistance, have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, have tried resetting the DRM folder, and am currently working with my bank to dispute all my music purchases in the last 60 days because of this!!

FYI - call the MusicMatch billing support number - 1-888-814-2524 and see if they can help get you some action. I just got off the phone with them. They said they cannot refund tracks that appear to have downloaded successfully, however she did put through a tech support request and said I should have a telephone response back in 24/48 hours. We'll see.

Music Match lock-up
Aug 1, 2005 1:34AM PDT

My MusicMatch stopped working in June2005. When I try to open the software, The logo pops up for a moment and then it won't open. I have uninstalled it and reloaded Windows XP but that won't solve problem.
Unfortunately, my itunes and Creative software won't play my MusicMatch .WMA formatted songs due to licensing. Is there a software to convert my MusicMatch WMA's into MP3 that will play on my other PC software? Thanks.
