Is not working a described...!
May 24, 2005 3:15AM PDT

Well, that was NOT working as described, says "make sure everything is properly installed as something is missing...blah..blah...blah"...In my case is everything properly installed with Outlook 2003 (Office 2003), however, adding a sound is NOT possible...That is why I asked for a easier way, or for a solution which really works...In google there are excellent solutions but for Outlook EXPRESS only...FYI.. (meaning: For your interest!)

I wonder if you followed the directions or... is your Outlook not a full verion, not patched, etc.

Since you are posting "blah blah" I really should ignore your posts. Details may have been lost. You must apply yourself to work the issue. If not, we are done.

blah blah is:
May 24, 2005 6:38AM PDT

Blah, blah: "This object was created in HTMLInlineSoundCTL. This application is not available to open this object. Make sure the application is properly installed and that it has not been deleted, moved, or renamed."

Properly installed? I did install properly with no error messages!
Actually to make sure I uninstalled Office 2003 and installed again...!
And the same window as above was read if I clicked the sound (or movie) icon.

P.S.: My Outlook 2003 is a full version, you bet!

Bingo.

From an Outlook mailing list we read " Installation of XP SP2 caused several functions in Word 2003 to be disabled (such as "HTMLinlinesoundctl"). Those functions should be reprogrammed to be compatible with SP2. Unfortunately Microsoft is currently offering Microsoft
Office in a version that is not a fully functioning program."

This issue extends to some installations of Outlook but not all. I can't explain why since... it's a Microsoft thing.

Case closed?

Still no fix...
May 24, 2005 7:10AM PDT

"March 2005 and Microsoft still has not issued a fix. I guess they just don't care that they destroyed an expensive program with their SP2 fix."

You've found a glaring issue about which you should call up and ask Microsoft when the fix will be out.

Thanks anyway...

I'm sure there are tens of official MS people out there, observing the email traffic! When you read and make statistic, only errors, bugs, etc, etc, but nothing else...!
Anyway, I'm preparing myself for a jump to linux, it seems everything is transparent there...However, I may keep at least one PC or laptop with windows OS, to compare...!
