Hi, I have transferred my cd collection to PC and have been using Musicmatch to play my 6000+ song collection. I have been sending to my home stereo/home theater via the coax output on the pc. There is also a TV video output which allows me to access on my TV the PC monitor display which is running Windows XP home. The problem is the PC has to be close to the TV and stereo, the fan and drives are annoying in their noise, and with the pc enclosed in a home entertainment cabinet, it gets too hot. On top of that, using the keyboard and mouse is inconvienient way of controlling things when I am sitting on the couch.
I think I need some kind of streaming media box to send the music to my stereo. I have a wireless network. It would be nice to get that pc out of the living room.
I know there are some media streamers and "hubs" out there, but surfing the net just made it more overwhelming to decide.
Now I realize I might also want to access some video files I keep on the same pc (avi and Itunes TV show) as well as my digital photos. I don't need HI def TV. The priority is my music collection. And if I could listen to it in other rooms that would be a bonus.
I don't want to spend any more than I have to ($200 - 500 I'm thinking).
Any suggestions for a wireless music box with some jpeg and video features will be greatly appreciated.
-Eric
