Question

Music not showing up correctly

Feb 28, 2015 7:56PM PST

Got a new computer. Windows 8.1 OS

Previous computer windows 7. ripped music from CD's and Amazon downloads onto its Windows Media Player.

Backed up this music to a WD Passport external hard drive.

Retrieved music from external hard drive to new computer with windows 8.1 OS.

Result on Windows Media Player is completely unworkable. Music doesn't play. Music does not show up separated into albums nor list contributing artists, etc. All songs have a number now as part of the title.

What did I do wrong and can this be fixed and if so, how?

Thank you all so much for any help and assistance you can give.

Answer
I'm not a fan of Windows Media Player.

It's done that for years so I always use other than WMP. You may want to move to something else too.

What do you mean "retrieve"?

Almost all players play from almost any location. Why did you use the word "retrieve"?
