Really hard to find now

Last time I ordered Music CD-RWs for my old Phillips, it took a little searching/calling. I only see one hit on Amazon here:

http://www.amazon.com/TDK-80-Min-Digital-Audio-10-Pak-Ultra-Slim/dp/B000NE9D3I/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1426881810&sr=1-1&keywords=music+cd-rw+4x

@ Sears too-
http://www.sears.com/tdks-tdk-cdrw80twn10-10-pack-of-700mb-4x/p-SPM7732742602?hlSellerId=12820&sid=IDx20110310x00001i&kpid=SPM7732742602&kispla=SPM7732742602&kpid=SPM7732742602&mktRedirect=y

Maybe try a search of the TDK brand/model number if you can find it somewhere. That may bring in a few more current hits for sale beyond what I saw above. Good luck.

The OP's looking for a different product

Those you have cited are normal CDRWs for use in a computer. The old Phillips (standalone) CD-Recorder employs a really annoying copyright scheme requiring specific 'digital-audio/'music'' CD-R/RWs. I probably have less than six left of an old cake box and have retired the standalone in favor of a much faster PC burner Wink

My mistake.

I bet it cost a fortune if one can find them..but why would anyone still want to use them? What's their big advantage?

You are preaching to the choir ;)

There's no advantage at all, given other the options are typically available. That's the point Wink

Seriously though- once digital downloads became more readily available, that's mostly when I migrated from burning very many CDs w/ the Philips. It really became silly to order any more of these proprietary blanks CD-RWs. OTOH, back in the day I lent the unit once to a friend who wanted to burn copies of his band's CD for a release party. He kept it in a studio for so long, but I honestly didn't care so much if the thing ever returned intact Wink
