I'd start with trying another motherboard. If your current CPU and current RAM can be used on it, it might be less then USD 100 for the board.
The other night, my screen went black and flashed the message "Out of Timing." I just shrugged it off and shut down my computer. Later that day when returning to the computer, I found that my computer was being rather wonky. The monitor was not turning on due to no signal, my usb keyboard and mouse were not powered (though, my mouse did show a flicker of life when the computer was initially turned on), and the fan was whirring. There were no beeps that corresponded with all of this mess. Following the advice of many online, I gave it some time, reset it every once in a while, removed everything but the bare bones of the computer, fiddled with the RAM, but nothing has been any help. In addition, I have tried different outlets and cords for just about everything. Yet, as stated, nothing helped.
If needed, I can get the model of the computer, but I'm not really sure what to do at this point. I am advised to take it to Geek Squad, but I'd really rather not spend $100 dollars for them to do everything I've already done. Any advice on what I should do?
(In addition, I use windows Vista if that is any help and I have an LCD monitor)
