multiple copies of files

My OS is Windows XP. The filea in My Documents folder
sudenly were repeatd as copies, some as many as 300
times. In some cases copies of copies have been made.
I have Norton Internet security with the latest up
update and cannot find a virus. Several attenpts to
connect to a DNS server by MOTIN SB.exe.but were blocked.The path was c:\programfiles\verizon on line\
SMART|BRID. HELP

Virus scans don't find spyware and malware, even though they can be much more destructive than most viruses. Some are even from the same companies that sell you antivirus softwares.
