I had two of them before I finally gave up and bought a Panasonic.
My biggest problem was with the picture freezes plus the Closed Captioning would quit working at the same time.
The picture freezes would last for about 4 or 5 seconds and then start playing again, but no Closed Captioning. And it always occurred
at the same spot. I believe the freezing might have happened at what is called the DVD Layer Change.
I could have put up with the freezes, but having to go back in and reset the Closed Captioning every time was a deal breaker.
I posted about this a month ago and was told it was being turned over to Engineering, but never heard from them.
This was with DVDs, not Blu Ray discs.
I recently received a BDP-1600 as a wedding gift; sadly, from day one, I have been having problems with it. I have it hooked up to an Olevia 237t 720p LCD TV via a high quality HDMI cable. First off, the machine refuses to accept it when I set its resolution to 720p; instead, the screen goes blank for a couple of seconds and when it returns the machine has reverted to 1080p. I have also had the picture and sound drop during playback to be replaced by full screen static and silence only to return to normal a couple of seconds later. Sometimes during playback the picture and sound will freeze and not continue unless I rewind a couple of seconds back and start from there. I have even seen light static come across the screen during playback, only to leave after a couple of seconds. At first, I thought it was odd, so I tested my screen using other devises and have had no problems with them. I recently installed the latest firmware update; however, it failed to fix any of the above issues. Are these common errors? What can I do about them?
Thank you.
