multimedia messaging

by allstetic2 / January 24, 2008 5:49 AM PST

I have the nokia 6102i and a friend sent me a multimedia message, pic and audio. I get the pic but no audio. I get this message instead ( one or more of the message components have been deleted by mms adaption, either the message was to large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal.) Others with the same phone received it, why can't I? It is only like 70kb and I have ooodles of memory, all I have I the phone is 1.7kb of pics and then my phone book. Any ideas what's up? Thanx

It was posted 6 minutes earlier and went like:

"I have the Nokia 6102i and my friend is trying to send me a multimedia message pic and audio and I keep receiving this( one or more of the message components have been deleted by mms adaption. Either the message was to large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal.) The file size is only 75kb and my free memory is 159.5kb. I am the only person having this problem and she has sent it to others with my same phone. Any idea's? Perhaps a setting or something. Thanks"

Just a guess

You didn't mention your carrier. See if I can your carrier, Verizon, correct? If you have Verizon, they remove music from being able to download to your phone, via Bluetooth, messaging, etc. They feel you have to pay them for the ringtones. I think it has something to do with the copyright of music.

That's my guess.

My carrier is AT&T and it isn't a ringtone or music its a pic with someone telling a short story so I don't think they'd want to charge for that. Any other idea's?

Well get this, whether or not your phone has multimedia messaging, doesnt mean it can play it. This is why, your phone may be able to recieve mms messages but it might not have the right hardware to play the particular file type! See cuz u can get pics and stuff but it won't play the audio because it operating system might not support the file type, so basically u need a different phone!! I hope that helped u!

Thanx but I don't think that is it. I received part of the audio, then it said I didn't have enough memory and I actually have alot of memory yet. But thanx again for the help.
