MTP device keeps flashing found new hard ware

Mar 3, 2007 1:05AM PST

"found new hardware" balloon came on taskbar, stating a MTP device has been found.I have stopped it flashing, in the "Control panel" [add new hard ware ] it tells me that only one hardware can be loaded at one time, when in actual fact I am not trying to load any hardware. Please can anybody help?
my system is Windows xp pro

MTP Device balloon keeps recurring
Mar 7, 2008 7:05AM PST

This was constantly saying "Founf New Hardware" and interferring dramatically with other processes. To stop it, I went to Control Panel - Admin Tools - Device Manager - (Right Click on Portable Devices MTP which was flashing constantly) - and Delete MTP.
Computer started working normally. I am on XP.
Hope this helps.

Removing MTP did nothing for me but the following did.
Mar 9, 2008 11:59PM PDT

I have been racking my brains out trying to get my Zen Xtra MP3 player to work again for the last week. I could go into all that I did but all I did was follow your instructions line by line. I will list the files I used in the process so someone can take what you put here and the files that I used and hope it works for them as well as it did for me.

Driver: #1 - Creative ZEN and Jukebox Driver 2.01.00

Firmware: #1 - Creative Zen Xtra PlaysForSure Firmware 2.10.03

Application: #8 - Creative Software Suite for PlaysForSure-enabled Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra Players

I REALLY like Application #8 because I can just put my music on my Zen Xtra like I would from one HD to another HD. And I can put them on it in a way where songs won't dupe even though they are not by the same artist.

Artist <folder>
(Year) Album <folder>
01-Title Of Song <track 1>
02-Title Of Song <track 2>

etc.

Goon try this, I had the same exact problem as you and it did work. Just follow it as walkertron writen at the top

A real solution?
Aug 14, 2009 3:53AM PDT

Because nearly all the solutions above did not work, particularly the notion to HIDE the program's running icon (I do not want to hide the icon, I want to get ride of the damn thing), the best way to do this is to start the Device Manager by right clicking on the My Computer icon on your desktop and select properties (or press the Windows Key - Break key at the same time). You can start access Device Manager by entering: %SystemRoot%\system32\compmgmt.msc /s at the RUN command (Windows key - R) which brings up Computer Management and under the Systems tools tab is "Device Manager.") Look for the MTP Device and kill it. That should solve your problem.

This tip worked for me so far...
Aug 18, 2009 4:08AM PDT

Hey, Rag. Thanks. I followed this idea, as the previous ones had no effect, or there were some discrepanies with my screen compared to the OP's computer screen.... no idea why that would be.

BTW, I have no MTP or MP3 device to add or remove; maybe one of the kids snuck onto my laptop?

So thanks, and we'll see if all is still well tomorrow when I login in. Have a great one.

MTU Device Popup, connot connect player...All types Xp only
Aug 17, 2009 5:15PM PDT

Solution. Click here and..Just kidding.

Really the reason this occors is that the device is not a mtu device. Rather it is reconized as an exrternal usb drive.

There are two ways to easily fix this.
Unplug device
Fist option.
1)Open device manager, click "view hidden devices"
2)Delete the MTU driver IF still listed.
3)Open windows media player 11
4)Plug in device.
Should work now.

Second option
Must be done with device still plugged in!

1)Open device manager, click "view hidden devices"
2)Right click on the MTU device driver.
3)Select "update driver"
4)The window displayed should now list 2 drivers.
a)"MTU device"
b)Exrernal usb storage media" or somthing close to that.
Double click on the second option "b".
Don't bother with the suggested restart_! Cuz we be crazy and roll like that.
Good luck!

Found the Problem
Mar 14, 2008 6:11AM PDT

I have a SanDisk Sansa 2 gb MP3 player. Kept getting the pop up "MTP Device". The MP3 player has an internal setting that needs top be changed from MTP to USB, and the computer will recognize the player as another hard drive. Works like a charm. Good luck.

Found New MTP Device popup issue
Aug 9, 2008 4:23AM PDT

All of the above replies are a waste of time.
1.) Uninstalling the MTP Device just solves the problem until you reboot of the system detects the MTP Device again.
2.) Stopping the taskbar popup doesn't stop the 3 second spamming of the operating system redetecting the MTP Device therefore chewing up major resources until you fix the real issue...

Issue is with a new Microsoft Update.
Here's the real fix...

"If you are running Windows XP or higher and trying to install a MP3 Player that you just bought, then you have to install the Microsoft download "Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit" (15 mb installed) at the link http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A2E73160... or else your PC will never recognize your MTP device."
